The Dunedin Celtic Arts Festival

A Celebration of our Ancestry

The Dunedin Celtic Arts Festival is convened by The New Edinburgh Folk Club and run every odd-numbered year and is rapidly becoming a must-attend event on the Dunedin calendar.

"Dunedin is the Celtic capital of New Zealand and over twelve days in October we celebrate the music, arts and culture we share with our ancestors. Many of our European forbears came from Scotland and Ireland and they continued their traditions in their new land, slowly weaving them together with the tangata whenua of this country.

These connections are highlighted in this festival which includes performances from top Irish, Scottish, Australian and New Zealand celtic musicians as well as dance displays and tuition, instrument tuition, lectures, tours, films and textile displays"
Richard Dingwall
President, New Edinburgh Folk Club.

Dunedin Celtic Arts Festival Expressions of Interest
We are interested in hearing from any artist, craftsperson, dance, music or cultural society that believes they have something to offer the Festival. It is our intention to expand the Celtic Festival as an biennial event that would include as much diversity as possible.
